Ralspeed were called to assist when a major North West Utilities company required an upgrade on an old 350Kw Vacon NXP variable speed drive.
The 650Amp NXP drive was controlling one of a pair of pumps maintaining wastewater levels at a pumping station close to the centre of Morecambe in Lancashire. A temporary variable speed drive panel drive from the extensive Ralspeed hire fleet was installed to keep the pumping station operational, while a replacement 650Amp NXP was sourced from Danfoss Drives.
On delivery of the new drive, Ralspeed attended site with two engineers who had received extensive training at Danfoss facilities in both Gorinchem Holland, and Vassa in Finland.
The hire drive was disconnected and removed, while the new drive was manoeuvred into position, then lifted and secured into the existing enclosure with mains and control wiring being reconnected as per the original installation.
The end user had installed a completely new pump, so the old control parameters and application reinstalled while an identification run was performed to help optimise drive performance.
The entire operation was completed within the day and the customer was left with on-site peace of mind; as the drive had been supplied with an extended, full on-site repair warranty from Danfoss Drives, backed by Ralspeed.
