Ralspeed were called upon to assist with the routine changing of one of Danfoss Drives’ largest air-cooled drives in the UK. The Vacon NXC1190Amp, 690volt cabinet was driving a one megawatt I.D. Fan as an integral part of a huge energy recovery plant.
With careful planning, the drive was disconnected electrically, removed and exchanged within a tight maintenance window. Despite several challenges with access and lifting, reconnecting and commissioning were all done within 36 hours. The old enclosure was returned to the workshop and all ageing parts were exchanged as per Danfoss recommendations, leaving the customer with an upgraded spare drive.
